FPWC Armenia activities

The “Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets in the Republic of Armenia” (FPWC) was established in 2001.

 The targets of FPWC:

   •  To raise public awareness on environmental  issues

   •  To protect endangered species and cultural assets

   • To develop Ecotourism as a means to improve living conditions in the regions without affecting the natural environment

   •  To offer environmental education for children and youths

 

The Projects of FPWC:

2001-2005

FPWC produced the first film series about Armenian wildlife. The 30 parts of this series were broadcast by local TV channels. The participation of the films in international eco-film festivals resulted in various awards some of them were firsts.

October 2006 

FPWC started to establish the project “Following the Sun” an environmental education program for children and youths. The program was implemented in 6 regions of Armenia. SunChild Eco-clubs were established in Yerevan, Garni/Goght, Dilijan, Gyumri, and Urtsadzor where nearly 1000 child-members learnt to gain a fresh look at their surrounding world by the use of photo and video cameras. Additionally the “SunChildren” participated in various environmental trainings.

April 2007      

“SunChild First Regional Environmental Festival” (Part I); Beginning from 1st -12th of April in various regions of Armenia realized numerous environmental events

   • clearing large plots of land from stones in order to prepare tree planting

   •  tree planting

   •  garbage collecting

   •  concerts

   •  environmental march with 500 participating children and youths

   •  garbage-art exhibition

July-August 2007

SunChild Summer School 2007; The most active children from SunChild Eco-clubs took a 12-day training course in Tsakhkadzor . The program included :

   •   ecological law (a simple introduction in ecological law specially for 12-16 year old children)

   •  journalism

   •  photo and video shooting

   •  English and computer course

   •  first-aid course

As a result of those courses each regional group of children presented ecological short-films shot and edited with the help of professionals.

October 2007

SunChild First Regional Environmental Festival (Part II)
