Green updates from CWR’s edible garden

We are so excited to share that our edible garden has started giving its first sprouts! This initiative that started early in 2016 suggests setting up a small scale food forest through the application of permaculture and agroforestry techniques – first time in Armenia.

As much as 350 wild fruit trees, around 500 wild berry shrubs and a number of crops such as carrots, radishes, parsley, dill, garlic ,fennel, mellisa and lavender will be planted by the end of this season-overall 7 layers that ecologically complement each other.

The generated “right from the garden” product will be then promoted and offered to tourists visiting the CWR area. It will also be possible for the tourists to directly participate in ongoing works in the demo site.

Permaculture is a system of agricultural and social design principles centered on simulating or directly utilizing the patterns and features observed in natural ecosystems.

Agroforestry is an integrated approach of using the interactive benefits from combining trees and shrubs with crops and/or livestock. It combines agricultural and forestry technologies to create more diverse, productive, profitable, healthy and sustainable land-use systems.
