This year in our Wildlife Rescue Center (WRC) we have achieved an unprecedented result․ In our Center there are 19 rescued Brown bears and 16 of them fell asleep with the first snow. The other three bears, although not permanently asleep during the winter months, slept for several hours at night. We rescued this 3 bears from the restaurant complex in the spring of 2020 and they haven’t yet restored the instincts.
The natural process of wintering is one of the most effective indicators of ensuring the welfare of animals. None of the rescued bears ever slept for a long time during their captivity, which caused psychophysiological disorders for the animals. Hibernation, in which bears begin to prepare for late autumn, helps bears survive the cold months and regain their instincts. Hibernation, in which bears begin to prepare for late autumn, helps bears survive the cold months and regain their instincts. Our specialists are hopeful that all the bears will be asleep in the winter of 2021.
Now all the bears already came out of their lair and are under the strict control of our specialists. All the bears diet now consists of greens, they get a certain amount of protein, spend all day looking for food, just like in the wild.
