Every April 22nd, people worldwide come together to commemorate Earth Day, which originated in 1970 as a pivotal moment in the modern environmental movement. This global celebration serves as a reminder of the urgent need for a sustainable lifestyle that benefits both humanity and the planet. It calls upon us to live in harmony with nature and prioritize the health of our Earth.
In response to Earth Day, the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) has launched a month-long campaign. During this period, individuals can actively support FPWC's tree planting initiative by simply sending an SMS and donating to contribute to tree planting efforts.
The process is straightforward: one SMS equals one tree, equating to 500 AMD. By texting the number 7733, you can help FPWC plant a tree in Armenia.
And if you wish to plant more trees, you can simply send more messages! If you send more than 20 SMS, you are already planting a small forest ;) – and we will say thank you with a nice FPWC gift and a certificate.
If you prefer alternative methods to support FPWC's conservation projects, you can donate through the following link: https://www.fpwc.org/donate/
We started this SMS campaign from 2021, and every year more people join us to donate to plant trees. In autumn, during the best planting time, we will plant the trees you donated.
FPWC is pioneering a community-based reforestation project, introducing innovative technology in Armenia to cultivate tree species that are typically challenging to grow using traditional methods. Beyond mitigating climate change through reforestation efforts, forests and trees play a crucial role in supporting wildlife food security and nutrition. Consequently, these actions can alleviate human-wildlife conflicts by providing wildlife with essential nutritional resources. Over the past years, FPWC has successfully planted over 450,000 trees in the Vayots Dzor region, and we are heading to achieve 700,000 by the end of 2027.
