New Arrival at FPWC Wildlife Rescue Center: Bear Cub Begins Journey Back to the Wild

Published on 29/04/2025

The FPWC Wildlife Rescue Center (WRC) recently welcomed a new resident—a young male bear cub, approximately 2-3 months old, from Armenia's Vayots Dzor region. The cub was transferred into FPWC's care through coordination with the Ministry of Environment, ensuring that he receives the specialized care essential for his health and future return to the wild.

FPWC's wildlife specialists are already developing a comprehensive rehabilitation program designed to equip the bear cub with the necessary skills to survive independently in his natural habitat. Wildlife rehabilitation is a meticulous and highly responsible task, demanding extensive expertise, patience, and unwavering dedication from the entire FPWC team.

The cub will only be reintroduced into the wild after thorough assessment and confidence from our specialists that he can successfully adapt to and thrive in his natural environment. FPWC has successfully carried out similar rehabilitation and release operations in the past, and the team remains optimistic about this cub’s prospects.

We invite everyone to follow and support this young bear’s journey towards freedom.

Important Guidance When Encountering Young Wildlife

If you come across a juvenile wild animal:

  • Do not approach or disturb the animal, as its parent may be nearby, temporarily away seeking food.
  • Maintain a safe distance and observe quietly from afar.
  • Only seek professional help if the animal appears injured or has been abandoned for an extended period (typically over 24 hours).
  • Immediately contact the Ministry of Environment or FPWC Wildlife Rescue Center hotline at 08000411.

Your informed response helps protect Armenia’s wildlife.
